Since I currently live in Chicago, I wanted to dedicate my first post to this fantastic city!
As someone who grew up in the Midwest (and is very Midwestern- ope!) and also grew up going to New York City quite often to visit my grandma, I did not know there was a city that had this much going on, while also held the Midwestern values that I am used to (sorry New York). The people in Chicago are SO NICE to the point where sometimes I do just want to run into the grocery store without seeing a photo of your grandchildren, but honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way. People are very happy to get to know you and this is a very nice feeling!
Chicago is also great because (again- sorry New York) there are a lot of ways to make it feel quite affordable. I don’t want to brag– no seriously I don’t, but my rent that I have paid for the last 2 years is under $900 in a very cute and nice neighborhood. This makes it easier to be able to participate in more events and other offerings that Chicago has.
How about I give a shoutout to what you all are looking for: Chicago FOOD! I probably go to around one new restaurant every week or two (sometimes more sometimes less) and I’ve almost never been disappointed. This does not include restaurants that I frequent, such as Southport Grocery and Cafe and Sushi Mura. I love these restaurants both so much and they have come to feel like home to me! As for the restaurants that I have only been to a few times, some of my favorites are Spacca Napoli (very good pizza!), Lowcountry (very good seafood boil!), MK Noodle (very good pho!), Ramen Wasabi (you know what’s good here), I could go on and on and I’m sure I will again. So yes, shoutout to the food scene in Chicago!
I am embarrassed to admit that of all the time I’ve been here, I’ve only been to the art institute twice, and not to any other museums. I know that they are cool so I will still recommend them, but I still need to go to them myself!
There are a plethora of farmers markets always going on, so those are always fun to go to as well.
This has been a fun first entry of my blog, and I am going to call this part 1 so that I can keep talking about Chicago again and have the excuse that I just had to do a part 2.
Thanks for reading along!
